Thomas Edwin Blanton who was arrested for the bombing in Baptist Church has passed away from a natural cause. Blanton was 82 years old when he died. His wrongful act on September 15, 1963, took the lives of four girls and injured so many other people.

Another suspect, Ku Klux Klansman Bobby Frank Cherry also arrested with Blanton for the bombing in 2000 and for murdering four girls in which one was 11 years old named Denise McNair, the other one was 14 years old named Addie Mae Collins, including Cynthia Wesley and Carole Robertson in the blast.

Cherry died in prison in 2004, another suspect Robert Chambliss has also died in prison. The fourth suspect of the case who was never charged also died in the prison in 1994.

All four men had been suspected in the investigation the FBI Director shut down the investigation with no charges on them.

Thomas Edwin Blanton was due another parole hearing next year, families of all four girls had decided to attend with Collins’s cousin, Sarah Collins Rudolph, who was also in that blast and lost her right eye, still carries glass fragment in her chest and abdomen.

For Blanton’s case, US Senator Doug Jones of Alabama was a special prosecutor appointed.
